“Louisville Letter Play”

Public art in Louisville, Colorado
Consisting of twenty 2′ x 4′ plasma-cut steel panels inset with colorful glazed ceramic elements, “Louisville Letter Play” lines the low concrete walls of the South Street Underpass at the north end of downtown Louisville, Colorado.
At the initial glance, the piece appears as a row of abstract shapes but is actually a series of letter forms spelling out “Louisville Colorado US.” The steel panels will gradually take on a rust patina, harmonizing with the massive steel beams of the railroad bridge immediately above the walkway.
Completed in July 2021, the project was generously funded by the City of Louisville’s Cultural Council.
