“Trumpeter Swans”

“Trumpeter Swans”

“Trumpeter Swans” is a glazed ceramic mural permanently installed on the side of the Little Herbal Apothecary at 100 E Cleveland Street in Lafayette, Colorado. It measures 29″ x 93″ x 1″. The installation was made possible through a Public Art Grant by the Public Art Committee of the City of Lafayette. Many thanks to Stacey Bernstein from the City and Faith Rodgers, owner of the Little Herbal Apothecary for making this possible!

The Trumpeter Swan is the heaviest living bird native to North America, and also the largest extant species of waterfowl, with a wingspan of 6 ft 2 in to 8 ft 2 in. These birds were nearly extinct in the early 1930’s and due to the work of various wildlife agencies they have made a remarkable comeback. Their populations are not now at risk. While not common in Colorado, they have been observed in the state.
